Philosophy of New Normal and the Direction of Liberal
Education

University education is facing an enormous change in the wake of full�scale uncontact teaching made necessary by covid crisis. In these times
when online-based uncontact teaching has become the new normal,
there rises a need to reset the substance and method, the whole direction
of liberal education. In this study, we try to search for the philosophical
basis of new directions of liberal education in the age of new normal. We
offer the views of G. Agamben and M. Heidegger as the philosophical
ground of new normal, especially the philosophy of "Dasein" which seeks
to restore "the experience of white paper" and overcome the problems
of standardization. We propose as the new courses of liberal education
the integration of general and specialized knowledge, the education
of environmental issues and climate change, the stress in education of
global citizenship, and the transformation of liberal education into a new
paradigm of lifelong learning.
