국문초록

 코로나 19로 우리의 일상은 모두 변하였고, 다행히도 대학교육은 기술의 혜택으
로 비대면 강의의 형태로 변화되었다. 비대면 강의로의 갑작스러운 전환 속에서
일부 대학은 자본의 논리로 대형강의로 강의를 통합하는 방향으로 나아가고 있다.
하지만, 이 방향이 맞는 것일까? 이에 대한 의문을 가지고, 본 논문에서는 대학교
육의 본래 목적에 대해서 살펴보고, 코로나 시대로 인해 갑자기 겪게된 현재의 비
대면 강의의 장단점에 대한 비판적 검토를 통해, 코로나 시대의 비대면 교육, 나아
가 코로나 이후 시대의 대학교육이 나아가야할 바를 모색해보고자 한다.
 서양전통에서 대학은 진리탐구를 통해 인간의 지적능력을 향상시키고, 이를 바
탕으로 전문지식을 습득하여 사회에서 전문적 직업을 획득하는 것을 목적으로 해
왔다. 사회의 변화에 따라, 교수자와 학습자의 수평적 관계를 강조는 새로운 패러
다임 속에서 대학생들이 향상해야할 지적능력과 전문지식은 조금씩 달라져 왔다.
그러나 그동안 한국 대학교육은 패러다임의 전환이 충분히 이루어지지 않은 상태
에서 교육내용만 수용한 상태로 변화를 추구해왔다. 그 과정 속에서 갑작스런 비
대면 교육으로 그동안 지켜왔던 패러다임은 흔들리고, 변화가 시작되었다. 학생들
을 서열화하던 평가에서 학생들의 성취도에 따른 자율적 평가가 가능해지고, 비대
면 상태에서 학생들이 교수자의 권위에 주눅들지 않고 좀 더 적극적으로 질문하고

자신의 의견을 표명할 수 있는 기회가 주어지게 되었다.
 새로운 시대에 맞는 새로운 교육을 위해서 비대면 시대의 교육은 캠벨과 스미스
가 제시한 새로운 패러다임에 맞는 소그룹 토론 수업의 확대로 가야한다. 소그룹
토론수업을 통해 학생들은 소통의 기술, 함께 일할 수 있는 능력, 문제를 해결할
수 있는 비판적 사고, 타인에 대한 존중, 주체적 사고 등을 계발할 수 있다. 비대면
교육은 지식산업사회 교육의 방향에 온라인의 방식이 가진 장점과 단점을 보완할
수 있는 방식으로 가야할 것이다.

 Covid19 pandemic changed our daily life. We cannot see other people
freely in person and avoid gathering with others. In this disaster,
fortunately, higher education could keep teaching student with the blessing
of technology such as Google class, Zoom and Cisco Webex. The online
classes offer in two way: Recorded lecture and Synchronous class. After
some universities acknowledged the merit of the recorded lecture, they
began to merge lectures and offer well-made classes by one excellent
lecturer. Is it a right direction for purpose of the university? In this article,
I will examine the purpose of the university, analyzes current online
teaching during covid19 pandemic and look for the better direction of the
college education.
 The purpose of college education is improving human intellectual and
master knowledge in a certain field. Along with the change of industry,
the paradigm of education and teaching contents have been changed
from teacher-centered to learner-centered. This kind of education focus
on improving the learner’s ability such as communication skill, problem
solving critical thinking, interpersonal skill, personal responsibility,

self-directing skill etc. Regardless online or offline class, small group discussion
is good for developing those skills and fit to fulfill the purpose of higher
education.
