How Neo-Liberalism Changed the Inner Side of ¡®Youth¡¯?
 - ¡®Entrepreneurial Ego¡¯, Another Name of ¡®Youth¡¯

  Korean universities in the 21st century are repeatedly crippled by ¡®neo-liberalism¡¯. Universities today fail not only ingenerating modern knowledge, but also incultivating functional experts and mature citizens. Neo-liberalism, which is symbolized by advanced information society and financial capitalism, completely changed the paradigm of economy. Wide-rangingu nemployment issue that arises as a problem in human history is severely damaging the autonomy of universities. This paper examines the impact of such social change on universities as well as on the inner side of youth generation by focusing on the ¡®entrepreneurial ego¡¯, ¡®governmentality¡¯,  ¡®self-development discourse¡¯, ¡®meritocracy¡¯, and ¡®competitive ideology¡¯. The paper attempts to demonstrate that these concepts that represent the change ultimately damage the values that the modern society agreed on. The study presents a direction for cultural education in response to the damage of these values and suggests a testable alternative.
