청년의 폭력을 장려하라
- ‘애국’과 한국 남성성/들의 배치

탈식민과 냉전의 부산물이었던 애국과 보수의 얼굴을 한 청년단체는 탈냉전의 시대에도 여전히 힘을 발휘한다. 서북청년단이 남한 정부와 미군정의 비호 아래 사실상의 ‘공권력’으로 작동했던 것처럼, ‘어버이연합’이나 ‘엄마부대’와 같은 가족화된 이름의 정치조직은 청와대의 지시로 우익 집회를 개최해온 것으로 드러났다. 박근혜 정권 하에서 서북청년단식의 관제 우익 집회가 다시 돌아온 것이다. 같은 시기 ‘일베’에 동조하는 남성청년의 증가와 전방위적 여성혐오 등 남성성의 위계화가 강화되는 것은 동일한 원인을 갖는다. ‘지배적 허구’인 남성성의 강화를 위해서는 주변적 남성성/들과 여성성을 만들어낼 수밖에 없기 때문이다. 이는 한국의 헤게모니적 남성성이 늘 강한 남성성을 추종하는 동시에 위기를 호소하는 것과 연결된다. 반공과 냉전 체제는 식민지배로 인해 거세된 남성성을 회복하고, 민족국가를 재건하기 위해 초남성적 통치성과 헤게모니적 남성성을 요청하지만, 탈식민과 산업화의 과정이 발생하는 남성성의 위계화는 결국 과잉 남성성을 추동하면서 동시에 헤게모니적 남성성을 국가가 독점하려는 모순으로 이어지는 것이다. 그런 점에서 육군의 동성애자 색출 사건은 ‘애국’이 폭력적으로 종속시키는 남성성/들이 무엇인지를 보여준다. 이제 가장 ‘왼쪽’은 동성애자인 셈이다.

With the Cold War, hostile masculinity spread through South Korean society. After the liberation from Japanese imperialism and the Korean War, Korean society had a divine goal to recover the castrated masculinity of the Joseon colonial period. The interpellation of hegemonic masculinity was to rebuild a nation by militarized masculinity. In this environment, to become a soldier meant being a proper citizen. Therefore, women automatically became second-class citizens. This gendered over-masculinity was reinforced during the postcolonial movement. People wanted to have a great father and a well-governed family.
The Young Men’s Associations are products of post colonial and cold war period. The Young Men’s Associacion of Choson Minjok and Seobook claims that they are the real patriots who would fight for Freedom against Communists. But After the 70 years, They are acting out again. The made the right-wing protests against The Sewol and the candlelight rally. At the same time, ‘the Ilbe’, who regards them as a loser Korean male, attack the feminists. The misogyny of South Korea became fierce in daily life. And This gender war broaden its area into the Homophobic shpere. The gays are the front line against White terror.
