시민교육 4년의 성과와 과제

국문초록
시민교육의 목적은 1. 더 나은 세계 만들기의 실천, 2. 자기 변화, 3. 세계 알기와 경험 확장이다. 이를 위해 교양교육 내용 및 교수자의 전문성, 교육 과정의 실질적 운영, 재정 행정을 포함한 교양교육기구의 독립성, 교양교육의 위상 제고를 위한 학내외 공감과 협조체계 마련 등을 위해 노력해 왔다. 이제 1. 대학의 시민교육은 정치적 문해력의 신장은 물론 합의와 연대, 실천이라는 민주적 능력을 배양하기 위한 실질적이고 전문적인 영약을 토대로 시민학의 정초를 마련해야 할 때이다. 그러기 위해서 2. 배분이수와 글쓰기, 중핵교과의 연계 및 심화과정의 개발을 통한 체계성과 연계성을 마련해야 한다. 또3. 현장 활동가와 교수자, 학생의 문제의식에 공통된 현장 활동 영역의 발굴과 지원 프로그램, 연구역량 개발을 위한 계획도 마련되어야 한다. 4. 대학의 사회공헌 및 대학교육에서 실천교육의 중요성을 더욱 강조할 필요가 있다. 자동화되고 맹목적인 사고에서 벗어나 사유의 틀을 바꾸고 일상과 사회적 형식을 바꾸는 실천능력은 실천적 과정 안에서 오롯이 길러지기 때문이다.

Achievements and Tasks of
Civic Education over the Last Four Years

The objectives of civic education are 1) making the world a better place 2) bringing personal change 3) meeting the world and expanding experience. To achieve those objectives, we strive for developing professionality of the contents and instructor, handling the curriculum operation, ensuring independence of the faculty's finance and administration, forming a social consensus of civic education and providing coordination scheme both inside and outside of university. Now 1) it is time to lay the cornerstone of civic studies, on the basis of practical and professional areas which develops political literacy and democratic abilities such as consensus, solidarity and practice. For that, 2) arranging organization and connectivity of Distribution Requirements, Writing and Required Fundamentals by developing intensive courses is significant. Also 3) schemes for discovering new field activity, support programs and developing research capacities should be provided. 4) Social responsibility of university and integrated operation of research institutions are also at need. 5) It is necessary to stress on the importance of practical education in public education and university education. Practical capacity helps us to escape from the automated and blind mindset and transform the framework of thought.
